October Weather Science Classes Begin October 5th, 2017!

Winter will be here sooner than we think! I know a lot of children are looking forward to winter weather, so here’s a great chance to learn about winter before it arrives. This new class series starts October 5th and will include 4 sessions: October 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th.

Week 1- Sioux Falls winter climate 101 and why we get such extreme weather! We’ll dig through the record, discover the big weather makers here, and find out what a harsh winter looks like. I also have some winter trivia fun facts for SD!

Week 2- Snow! How does it form and what ingredients are needed for a good snow storm in Sioux Falls? Is it true no two snowflakes are alike? What is thunder snow? Find out!

Week 3- Ice and Sleet. Remember the big ice storm from April of 2013? We’ll look back at that event and discover how the recipe for freezing rain is more complicated than meets the eye!

Week 4- Winter weather can be dangerous. We’ll look at ways to stay safe during the severe winter cold and the hazards meteorologists track. Plus, a winter forecast for this season and why predicting winter weather can be so challenging!

WHERE: Faith Baptist Fellowship Church, 57th and Minnesota.
WHEN: Thursday afternoons, October 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th.
CLASS TIME OPTIONS: 7-10 year old session 4pm-5pm

10+ year old session 5:30pm-6:30pm
COST: $30 per student, $25 for additional students from the same family.
