May 2017 Weather Classes

May is just around the corner and so is severe weather season. If your student is interested in tornadoes and learning about the latest science happening, you can sign up for the new 4 session series on tornadoes starting May 11th. The technology to track tornadoes is changing and improving once again this year and I happen to know an expert down at the National Severe Storms Laboratory in Norman, OK….my brother! Dr. Chris Karstens is developing new technologies that will impact how tornado watches and warnings are delivered to the public. He works with the world’s leading tornado researchers, so I’m always excited to learn some new things from him myself!

I also have new tools and new radar technology here at KELOLAND that will be equipped to give us details about tornadoes locally. That research project could deliver some interesting things in May! Also, we’ll dig into the science behind what makes tornadoes tick and cover safety tips that are always important to remember.

We’ll fill out weather journals again as well to study how our day to day weather changes over the 4 sessions.

COST: $30 per student, $25 for additional students from the same family.
WHERE: Faith Baptist Fellowship Church, 57th and Minnesota.
WHEN: Thursday afternoons, May 11th, 18th, 25th, and June 1st .
CLASS TIME OPTIONS: 7-10 year old session 3pm-4pm
7-10 year old session 4:30pm-5:30pm
10+ year old session at 6pm-7:15pm.

To register, please email us at karstensclasses@gmail.com, and let us know the student’s name, age, and which class you’d like to register for. Payment can be made through PayPal, also to that email address, karstensclasses@gmail.com or by check on the first day of class.

Hope to see you there!
